Lake Seminole Park
March 2005

Volunteers were given the challenge of planting 3,000 native plants – including bulrush, water lilies and pickerel weed – in and along a new stormwater pond at Lake Seminole Park.

Although it was chilly on this March day, Rick O’Hara didn’t mind getting wet for a good cause.

John Reed also got a bit soggy!

Dawn was one of 50 volunteers who planted all 3,000 plants in less than two hours!

After they finished the pond, the volunteers still had energy to pull invasive caesarweed plants from the pine flatwoods in the park.

Stephanie and Chad were still smiling at the end of the morning.

Finally it was time to clean up, sit down and have lunch.

Another job well done! This is the stormwater pond with the new plants that will help to filter runoff and provide wildlife habitat.
