Cabbage Key (Tierra Verde)
June 2006

Anthony and Kristin were among 40 volunteers who braved a humid June day in Florida to help plant about 350 native tress, shrubs, flowers and grasses around a large freshwater pond owner by Pinellas County.

Tampa Bay Watch director Peter Clark used an augur to dig holes for the larger trees that were planted by the volunteers.

These high school students earned some well-deserved community service credits for giving up a Saturday morning to help out.

St. Pete firefighters from the Tierra Verde Fire Station gave the new plants a long drink of water to jump-start their growth. Thanks for your help, guys!

Tired but happy volunteers still can manage to smile. Whew, it was hot that day! No more June workdays in Florida, we promise.
