Congratulations to the winners of our first-ever Invasive Species Poetry Contest!
Judges for the contest had a real challenge selecting winners from the nearly 100 amazing poems submitted by
residents throughout the Tampa Bay watershed. Winners were named in three categories: Adults; Juniors 11 Years
and Younger: and Juniors 12-17 Years. Each will receive a $250 first prize award.
The poetry contest shows that Tampa Bay residents of all ages really understand the harmful consequences of
non-native, invasive plants and animals on our native habitats and inhabitants.
There were so many great poems entered in our contest that we are going to put them all in a downloadable
booklet this Fall so that everyone can read them. In the meantime, enjoy reading the three contest winners.
