Neighborhood groups that want to conduct a pet waste education program can get a free kit containing materials they can distribute in their own parks and common areas. TBEP staffers also will provide a training session to familiarize volunteers with the environmental and public health impacts of pet waste, so they can pass on this information through their neighborhood outreach.
Neighborhood kits include a portable “Information Station” containing a tent canopy, small table, and sandwich board sign, as well as giveaways such as “Bags of Board” poop bag dispensers that clip to dog leashes, informational brochures and cute refrigerator magnets. All materials are free!
TBEP hopes the kits will empower neighbors to educate neighbors about the harmful effects of dog poop on water quality and human health, and encourage proper disposal of pet waste.
